RAISE CAR ABH holds technology pitching webinar

The Regional Agri‑Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program in the Cordillera Administrative Region, through its Regional Agribusiness Hub, conducted a free webinar titled “Technology Pitching Seminar and Workshop” on June 22, 2026 via Zoom. The activity was organized for researchers, innovators, and technology developers to help them communicate the value and impact of their innovations more effectively.

Speakers and session content

The webinar opened with remarks from Dr. Karen B. Gaerlan, Project Leader of the Regional Agribusiness Hub, who presented the rationale, objectives, and significance of the activity. She explained that the session was designed to help bridge the gap between research and development and commercialization, emphasizing that innovations can only create impact when they are adopted by intended users and that effective communication and pitching are important in translating research outputs into practical solutions.

Ms. Jovelyn P. Lao‑e, serving as resource speaker, delivered the main lecture. She highlighted that “great technologies do not succeed because they are technically superior; they succeed because people understand their value,” and asked participants to reflect on whether the projects and technologies they had worked on were already being used by many people. Her presentation covered the fundamentals of technology pitching and the key elements of a pitch deck, including value proposition, societal impact, and commercialization potential for prospective buyers, industry partners, investors, funding agencies, and other stakeholders. She pointed out that many promising innovations do not gain traction because their value is not communicated clearly and convincingly.

After the lecture, Ms. Clarisse Danis, Project Technical Assistant I of the Regional Agribusiness Hub, facilitated a workshop orientation on pitch deck development. The orientation was intended as preparation for the face‑to‑face Pitch Festival to be held at Apayao State College on July 2, 2026.

The webinar concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Gaerlan, who summarized the key points of the session and expressed appreciation to Ms. Lao‑e for her contribution. She reminded participants that “a great pitch is not about impressing people; it is about moving people to action.” The write‑up for the activity was prepared by BSDC intern Philip Nalimang.
