Five agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources technologies were presented during the Regional Agri-Aqua Technology Pitch Day 2026 at Benguet State University, where researchers received expert feedback on how to move their innovations closer to actual users and commercial markets. DOST-CAR Regional Director Dr. Nancy A. Bantog emphasized that successful commercialization begins with understanding demand—not simply developing a technology and looking for someone to use it.

Thirty-seven young entrepreneurs completed the four-day YEP–Project MARITES Batch 2026 training in Baguio City, culminating in a regional pitch competition where five finalists presented refined business ideas. From an IoT-based water monitoring system to surplus-vegetable noodles and upcycled crafts, the projects showed how mentorship can help young innovators move from promising concepts toward market-oriented ventures.
San Fernando Youth Pitch Ideas for a Smarter, Cleaner, and More Sustainable City
Young people from schools and youth organizations in San Fernando, La Union, brought forward proposals ranging from smart property matching and microplastic monitoring to biodiesel production and AI-assisted waste segregation during a project pitching contest on August 31. The activity showed how youth-led ideas can put technology and innovation toward some of the city’s everyday challenges.
DOST-CAR Brings Electric Public Transport to Apayao Through MOVE Program
A new electric mobility initiative is taking shape in Apayao as DOST-CAR introduced the MOVE Apayao program and blessed its first e-jeepney and convertible tricycle units on September 8. The initiative brings Filipino-developed electric vehicle technologies to the province while exploring how cleaner and more efficient public transportation can work in a local setting.

Judy Oracion Baucas of Tsokolat OLY Food Products planted her first cacao trees during the uncertainty of the pandemic with nothing but land, time, and faith. Those trees are now the foundation of a tree-to-bar chocolate enterprise producing tablea, cacao tea, and unadulterated chocolate bars, and on June 1, 2026, she took early retirement after 26 years in corporate to build it full time.

AddaVolt founder Lou Beltran turned his own frustration as an EV driver in Baguio into a capital-light charging network now operating across ten sites in Northern and Central Luzon, with 232 registered drivers, 35 partner organizations, triple DOE accreditation, and a provincial government pipeline that includes 200+ charging points supporting Pangasinan's ambulance electrification program.

The founder of Vidad Food Processing, Darizel C. Vidad of Brgy. Binacag, Banna, Ilocos Norte, developed a sweet potato with calamansi juice from a college feasibility study, transforming it from a product with a 2-day shelf life to one with a 2-month shelf life at room temperature and up to 5 months when refrigerated, into an FDA-eLTO-approved food enterprise, and representing Region 1 at the National Young Farmers Challenge Season 5 in April 2026. The people who inspired her most did not make it to that stage, but she kept going anyway.

How to Start a Startup as a Student
